Common Questions About Ceramic Coatings
How long does a professional ceramic coating last?
Unlike traditional wax or sealants that break down within months, a high-quality ceramic coating can last anywhere from 2 to 5 years, depending on the specific product and how well the vehicle is maintained. Because the coating forms a semi-permanent chemical bond with your car’s factory clear coat, it provides a durable, long-term shield that won't wash away during routine cleaning.
Does a ceramic coating prevent rock chips and scratches?
While a ceramic coating provides a much harder surface than factory paint and can help resist minor swirl marks and chemical etching, it is not thick enough to stop rock chips or deep scratches. For impact resistance, we recommend a combination of Paint Protection Film (PPF) on high-impact areas followed by a ceramic coating for total-vehicle gloss and hydrophobicity.
How do I maintain my vehicle after it has been coated?
Maintenance is significantly easier once a vehicle is coated, but proper technique is still essential. You should perform a contactless or two-bucket hand wash every 1–2 weeks using a pH-neutral automotive soap. Avoid automated "tunnel" car washes with abrasive brushes, as these can still inflict swirl marks over time and degrade the hydrophobic properties of the coating.
Is paint correction necessary before applying a ceramic coating?
Yes, professional paint correction is highly recommended before any coating application. Because a ceramic coating is transparent and acts as a magnifying glass for the surface beneath it, any existing scratches, holograms, or oxidation will be locked in and visible. Polishing the paint ensures the coating bonds perfectly to a flawless surface for the best possible showroom shine.
